Anubis
Egyptian waterways and ancient stone - a map built for flanks.
OVERVIEW
Anubis is an Egyptian-themed map set along a network of canals and ancient stone structures. It replaced Dust II in the Active Duty pool in April 2023 and rapidly developed a dedicated competitive following. The map's defining feature - water channels running through its centre - also serves as the primary mid-control route, making canal fights a recurring element of every match.
The layout revolves around two sites connected by a canal that can be used for rotation or early pressure. A site sits in a tight outdoor plaza with entry angles from Palace and Main; B site occupies a more open courtyard with strong CT positions near Connector and Stairs. The mid-to-B connection through Water provides T-side with a critical flanking route when controlled properly.
Anubis is considered one of the more balanced maps in recent memory due to its dual mid-access design. Teams that can alternate between A and B and time canal moves precisely tend to dominate rounds. The map has become particularly notable in CS2 for how sub-tick movement affects the tight water corridor duels, where split-second timing on peeks carries enormous weight.
Dual canal access gives T-side flexibility; CT timings to both sites are roughly equal, producing near 50/50 statistics.
BOMBSITES
Site A
Compact plaza with a large pillar; Palace entry is wide but exposed to early AWP from CT Connector.
Site B
Open courtyard; B Stairs and CT Spawn give defenders multiple retake angles.
CALLOUTS 14 positions
KEY UTILITY
smoke CT Spawn, smoke Connector, flash Palace entry from Main.
smoke CT from Water, smoke Stairs, molotov near Fountain to clear anchor.
smoke both ends of Water corridor to safely rotate mid-to-B.
Arch flash from T Spawn blinds early CT aggression on Main.
B Stairs smoke from T side forces CT to play further back, enabling safe plant.
