China is getting another top-level CS2 stop.

PGL has put a new Counter-Strike 2 event on its 2027 schedule, setting aside April 14-26 for a 16-team LAN in China. The company revealed the tournament on June 15, 2026, with $1,000,000 assigned to the main prize pool and the exact city still to be announced.

The event also includes a separate $300,000 payment pool linked to Valve Regional Standings invites. That bonus sits outside the normal prize distribution and is aimed at the highest-ranked teams that take their places in the tournament.

PGL China 2027 invites

PGL is not moving away from its offline-first model here. The China tournament is planned as a full LAN, with the competitive part held inside the China visa region. Most of the team list will be built through Global VRS invitations rather than long open qualification runs.

Fourteen of the 16 spots are reserved for direct invites, starting from the top of the Global VRS order. PGL plans to publish the invite list on January 4, 2027, while the actual seeding for the LAN will be taken from the VRS update dated April 5, 2027. That means a team can secure an invitation early in the year, then still move up or down the bracket picture before arriving in China.

Europe and Asia get one slot each

The two remaining places come through online qualifiers. Europe starts with an open bracket on January 27-30, using best-of-ones in the early rounds before switching to best-of-threes from the quarter-finals. Two teams advance from there into an eight-team closed qualifier on February 1-4, where six Europe VRS invitees wait. That closed stage is double elimination, all best-of-three, and produces one team for the LAN.

  • PGL China 2027 is scheduled for April 14-26.
  • The tournament has 16 CS2 teams and a $1,000,000 main purse.
  • Global VRS direct invites account for 14 main-event spots.
  • Europe and Asia each send one qualifier winner to the LAN.

Prize money and VRS bonus

The main purse uses two categories: prize money paid for placement and a club share added on top. First place is listed at $180,000 in direct prize winnings plus $100,000 as the club portion, giving the champion $280,000 total from the $1,000,000 pool. The source material does not include the full placement table beyond that first-place figure.

The extra $300,000 is handled through the VRS invite bonus. PGL will pay $60,000 to each of the five highest-ranked invited teams that accept. If one of those teams declines, the offer moves further down the ranking list, with eligibility stretching as far as the top 14. If the China event does not distribute at least $200,000 from that bonus fund, the unused amount is redirected into PGL’s yearly viewership-based team pool for its 2027 Tier 1 CS2 circuit.

Asia has a more regional route to the final slot. Open qualifiers run on January 27-30 for OCE, West, and East, with two teams from each area moving into closed qualifiers on February 1-4. Each closed qualifier has four teams and a best-of-three double-elimination format, sending one representative to the Asia Final. In that last stage, the second and third seeds meet in a best-of-three, then the winner plays the first seed in a best-of-five for the China berth. PGL also restated its rules around conflicts of interest, one-team-per-organization participation, visa deadlines, replacements, cheating, and match manipulation. The announcement lands while China is gaining more attention from major Counter-Strike organizers, with ESL FACEIT Group already confirming IEM Beijing 2026 through a deal with the Beijing Esports Industry Development Association.
